The 15th & 16th; Ten more days of face-tape!

The 15th of November.

Still taped half-shut.

I went to see Mr. Kolli this morning, and I wasn't sure if he was going to take the lens out or just check it, but I thought I'd at least be able to take the tape off. Unfortunately not. When he eventually called me in (he was running nearly an hour late and my appointment was only at ten so things must have been bad), he literally just wanted to check it was still sitting happily in my eye. I offered to take the tape off but he said nonono, because apparently if my eye is able to fully open it might just fall out. We don't want that. Obviously it's still there and is fine - weirdly, this has been my most comfortable week in ages, but he said most people find it starts to feel quite gritty so we'll see. Maybe because my eye has been so terrible, this feels better, but to other people who haven't had it as bad, it feels horrible? Anyway, he wanted to take it out next Friday, but I'm having the epidural injections in my spine then, so it'll be the Wednesday after instead. Ten more days of face-tape! And this week, I have more social engagements - Darren tonight at The Glee, a Cats Protection meeting on Monday, then I have Suzi on Wednesday, Hallfield drinks on Thursday...so many people to explain it to. I started having to do that straight away, because on the way out, we bumped into Asa from Piccadilly who was bringing his mum for a cataract assessment. I told her not to worry, it's the easiest thing I've had done, she won't feel a thing. She said she liked my hair and she wanted to ruffle it, and I thanked her for not doing so.

After all that, we got home about lunchtime, so had some beans on toast, then went upstairs to try to wash my hair without getting my eye wet. It was able to go a week without being washed, but much longer is not acceptable unless I'm ill. We did manage it, I just had to cup my hand around my eye very tightly, but I found it very stressful. Still, good to know we can do it.

Back downstairs, I made a coffee, then went to sit with the kittens and watch some more of The I-Land. They do that thing of ending each episode on a cliffhanger, so it's very bingeable. I did three episodes today. I don't want to give spoilers, but let's just say I'm probably going to finish the series tomorrow. There's only three more episodes left. The kittens all got on my lap to begin with, doing the usual, then split off and left me to it. However, Blanche and Bramble came back and made me a bit damp, which was lovely. They settled themselves down to sleep, just as I wanted to leave so I could pee and rejoin the rest of the family.

Right, I need to change my jumper, because this one is very snuggly and I am going to get too warm tonight at The Glee if I leave it on.

The 16th of November.

Oh boy, I am exhausted. Darren was so fun last night, but he did finish a little late, partly because things at The Glee were just running a little late, but also because a group of women from Swansea who were a bit too drunk had to be removed. It was funny, because while I was waiting for the rest of the audience to be let in, I overheard a new security guard being told about how the room usually is, and she specifically said "The people in this room have usually paid to come and see this performer, so they tend to be quite well-behaved, not like some of the stags and work groups we get in the other room who can get too drunk." Famous last words! They left without too much trouble, but I do wonder if they knew what they were coming to see?

So I got home late, had a bad night, and woke up early. Extra coffee required. Most of my day has been spent looking at my iPad, trying to find Christmas presents. I'm having ideas, it's just hard to narrow them down or make sure people don't have the thing already. It's so difficult!

I didn't have any Dark Time today, because I ended up having an afternoon of name-tape-removal with Mommy. We watched the three episodes of Junior Bake Off that we hadn't seen from this week (I know it's bad to hate a child but I really can't stand Eliza) and took the names out of lots of Grandma's accessories, aprons, gloves, dressing gown, etcetera. I think we've done everything now, but all the summer clothes are in a suitcase that we'll have to go through in the spring so they can go up charity shops then.

I have also been searching for a Christmas jumper that is not tooooo Christmassy so I can wear it before December without people looking at me like I'm mad. I've ended up ordering one that is sort of low-key, but it does have The Muppets on. However, I did get a couple of presents as well so I feel productive. I do want to go to sleep now. Zopiclone tonight.
