The 4th & 5th; If he operated now, my cornea would melt.
The 4th of July.
Back to hospital! This morning it was the sleep man, Dr. Madathil. After all this, the three failed sleep studies, eventually having it done, and I finally see him, he says that I don't have sleep apnea, my sats are only dropping to 90 at night which is apparently okay, and I don't need to see him again! I suppose that is a good thing, don't need to add another doctor to my list, it just feels a bit anticlimactic.
The first thing I noticed this morning was that I have a bruise on each arm, exactly where the sleeve of the dress I wore yesterday ended. I could feel it didn't give much when I reached forward, but I didn't think it would leave visible marks, so I have been complaining to Ted Baker about it all day. They have finally got back to me, and don't seem to believe this could have happened. I mean, I don't remember running into a bar that hit me on each arm in the same place, so I think there is only one culprit. I've replied in slightly more polite words. I've also been in contact with the inaccessible bakery and they are going to email me. We ate one of the pastries and it was very delicious but I could not eat a whole one! Mommy and I shared it after lunch.
I had a nice rest this afternoon, watching the first two episodes of Stranger Things, and it's shaping up to be another good season. Super Bob Newby!
The 5th of July.
Last hospital visit of the week.
Today it was Mr. Kolli, an appointment I wouldn't have known I had unless I had myhealth because I didn't get a letter about it and nobody called me. It's a good thing I am proactive in my healthcare. Anyway, when he called me in, I immediately launched into how painful it has been, and he mentioned for the first time about how that was probably because the surface of the eye was breaking down because I had an ulcer. Yeah. Imagine a mouth ulcer, but on your eye/lid. No wonder I was in so much pain/looked like Quasimodo. I did say how it had got better since Tuesday evening, when I switched from Dexamethasone to Prednisolone drops, but he thinks that's probably just a coincidence and I'm inclined to agree, because I've switched back since this morning and it seems okay. Good news is that my right eye looks great and healthy, and the left is starting to improve. The problem is that the eye GvHD blocked up some of the ducts that let out the oily secretions that clean your eyes, so mine are thicker, like butter. Delicious. This means that germs can just sit there and have a nice time, and the surface of the eye starts to get inflamed and break down. He took some pictures so I could see, and there are blood vessels growing down into my iris which is not where they're meant to be, and if he operated now, my cornea would melt and that does not sound like something I want. So I have to carry on with all my drops for another three weeks, and add in another one at night called Ikervis. I've had it before and it is agonisingly painful, but I'll try it again and he says if it makes me miserable, I can just bin it off.
I was texting Sadie afterwards, as we were going to meet up at the High Field later for some leaving drinks for an old teacher, but we decided to go an hour and a half early so we could hang out properly before lots of other people arrived. Therefore, after we'd got home and eaten lunch, I had to time to finish writing about Wednesday and put it on the blog before I had to get ready. I think I tried on four different dresses, which is exhausting, then I'd finally got one I liked and I dropped my eyeliner on it, so I then tried to wash it out which just soaked the whole dress so I had to take it off and find something else. I picked another one, and then Mommy thought I might be too hot and I worried it was too smart, so I got changed again about five minutes before I had to go out. So stressful.
It didn't get much better when I arrived at the pub, because as soon as I got inside, I realised I'd left my phone in the car, so then I had to use Sadie's phone to ring Mommy to ask her to ring Daddy to get him to bring it back (I know her number off by heart but not his), then while Sadie was at the bar I started worrying I'd dropped it in the street or the road but I wasn't in a position to go and check and what if someone had stolen it or driven over it but then Mommy rang back and it was fine, Daddy hadn't got far and he was going to come back. Breathe again. Free to enjoy our evening if drinking in the sun with people we've known for over twenty years.
