Archives For Adam

The 23rd of May.
Knackered again. I would really like a coffee, but it’s too late now. And I have finished the bag of Jelly Babies that normally reside beside me so I can’t even get a sugar hit.
I spent my morning having my hair coloured at Black Sheep. Well, technically, the morning was just bleaching, while I read The Cutting Edge (the new Lincoln Rhyme book), then it was after noon when the colour was applied. I showed Sophie some pictures of the new kittens, and she loves Daphne. I don’t blame her; she is the most photogenic. The colours we have gone for this time are a slate base, then stripes in purple, green, slate and a pinky red.
When finished, we made a quick trip to Boots because I needed a new toothbrush. Showbiz. By the time we got home, it was gone 2pm and I was very hungry. I watched the penultimate episode of The Blacklist and if Samar doesn’t wake up I will be furious. Then I listened to The Naughty Step while I took a lot of selfies to document the new hair.
Finally, I sat with the kitties and watched some of Bates Motel. I’m ignoring the unrealistic depiction of the girl on oxygen. Dolly came out for a bit and we did some more looking at each other. I’ll make her like me.

The 24th of May.
Really looking forward to sleep tonight. I’ve had three coffees today but still, bedtime is going to be great. Might even have two Zopiclones. Fuck it, I want a big nap.
This morning, Selina and I finally had this coffee that we have been planning and postponing for months. It was very lovely! Really, we didn’t have long enough – we spent an hour recapping our past ten years, interspersed with odd Handsworth recollections, including the realisation that actually, Miss Mold and Miss Jackson had a beautiful, enduring friendship. So we’re going to do it again, and next time we can talk about current things.
Back at home, I had some lunch, then Mommy went to Grandma’s and I had to twiddle my thumbs until the Amazon man arrived with my hair paste – didn’t want to be in the middle of befriending a cat only to chuck them away when the doorbell rang. He appeared just after I had made a coffee which was excellent timing. Had that, then I got Daphne to sit on my lap for about five minutes of Bates Motel. I’m happy with that.

The 27th of April.

Baby news! No, not royal baby news, couldn’t give a monkey’s about Prince Louis. No, John and Maddie (whose wedding we went to last summer) have had their baby! She is called Esmée and she is small and pink and angry-looking but I’m sure she’ll cheer up soon.

I’d just got a blog post written up when Denise arrived with a kitty for me! She (the cat) had been taken to the vet by someone wanting to put her to sleep, purely because she has a wound on her side, we think some kind of allergic reaction to a bite, and they couldn’t cope with it. But Brynn didn’t want to do that when she is so young (we think only about a year old) and otherwise healthy, so he called us. We have to clean the site with hibiscrub every day, but she’s very friendly and amenable so hopefully it shouldn’t be a problem.

I stayed with her for an hour until we had to go to the QE to have my right eye done. Thankfully, because there were only three lashes together, Mr. Kolli wanted to get me done first and quickly which I was only too happy to go along with. It was him doing the procedure today, and he did just the one injection. However, today’s was the most painful I think I’ve had. Still, it worked swiftly, he zapped the rogue lashes and whacked the patch on. I had my custard creams, then was discharged to spend the afternoon trying to ignore the itching and sitting with my new friend, who we can’t decide on a name for.

The 28th of April.

It has been a very good day!

I woke up a little bit early and watched Riverdale in bed (#JusticeForMidge) before getting up and dressed to see Adam this morning.

I got to Yorks just before him, swooping in on a table as two guys left it. Vulture skills. He popped up behind me as I was about to message him so we had a big hug then got coffee and cake. He told me some very exciting news which I will have to keep secret for a while but I look forward to it being shared. I got to give him the little cinnamon bun I crocheted and he is going to put it on his Dean shelf. He told me about how things are going at Oxford and I told him about Porno Live because he is a Belinker too.

Daddy came to pick me up because we had tickets to Infinity War at half two, so we had another massive hug and Adam went back to the station while we got in the car. I can’t say anything about the film but I have a lot of feelings. I nearly did a cry, but I also cheered a lot. It was very stressful.

Back at home, I got the new kitty (still can’t decide on a name) to fall asleep on my lap! Cat Whisperer is me.

The 10th of September.

Today has not been so terrible, in terms of pain, but I have still felt pretty shit all day.

I’m still tired, from not sleeping properly due to pain, so I got up just before the start of Sunday Brunch and got dressed in a cosy jumper and leggings, because the weather demanded it.

I have, again, not moved a great deal, but also have not crocheted at all because I just can’t concentrate. I thought, after lunch, that I might need a nap, so I went upstairs to lie down. I put on a podcast, curled up and closed my eyes, but I did not fall asleep. This is good; it means I am not ill! Just feel shit because I’m tired and in pain. Preferable.

After coming downstairs from my rest, I watched three episodes of Bones that had appeared overnight, and tried some Hugo petting. I forced him on to my lap and stroked until my arm was tired. He must learn to enjoy it.

The 11th of September.

Another early start, but for a good reason. I met up with Adam this morning, because he’d come up to the QE to talk to some of the nurses about stuff Dean wanted to do. It was really good to see him and give him a big hug in person, as opposed to verbally via direct messages on Twitter. We talked about how it had been in the last couple of weeks, and at the end, and his incredible appearance on Victoria Derbyshire. How he’s coping, how I am. There are things that are being planned in his name that I am looking forward to seeing. His legacy will live on.

He had to get going up to YPU, and I had to go home for lunch before my chiro appointment. Trine has managed to make me feel some relief – it appears one of the muscles on the right side of my back had gone into spasm and travelled all the way up (or down, I’m not sure which end it started) which meant all of that side was contracting. No wonder I was in pain. She managed to work some of it out, while I gritted my teeth. Thankfully it hadn’t transferred into my neck, so I just needed some ice pack treatment when I got home.

Since then, I have crocheted some mice for the kittens to play with. Henrietta has appropriated an old one which is incredibly tatty, so now they have some more that aren’t falling apart.
