The 30th of March.

Today has been rather productive, just not in the way I had planned.

This morning, I wrote up a blog post, then got back to work on the second jumper sleeve while watching the terrible Good Friday film offerings on the tv.

After lunch, I had planned on going to the gym. However, I got there and everything seemed suspiciously quiet, so I had a quick look on their website and yes, because it is a council-run facility, it is closed on Good Friday. C’est la vie.

So Mommy dropped me back off at home, and I returned to my crochet. I put on Scandal, and hammered my way through the whole first season (there are only seven episodes so it’s not hard). I finished the sleeve as I got to the end of the penultimate episode, then watched the last one while I got changed, because tonight we’re having family Easter dinner at Waters.

The 31st of March.

Well, my day has not entirely gone to plan, but hey, where’s the fun in that?

I wasn’t sure if I was meeting Selina (she was having a root canal this morning) or if I was going to the gym, so I stayed in my pyjamas all morning. I did a little bit of crochet while we watched the new neighbours move in because we’re creeps.

She texted me about noon and bless her, it had not gone well, so I put my gym clothes on. Had lunch, and I attempted my second gym trip of the Easter weekend.

When I got there, I sorted out my membership, because today was the last day of my free trial. Inside, I was displeased to see some youths, but that will be par for the course for the Easter holidays, I suppose. I did some work downstairs, fending off questions about how I was going to get upstairs from an instructor who hasn’t seen me before. When I got up there, I’d just started my first machine when I noticed everyone leaving. I took my headphones off, and I realised the fire alarm was going off. Evacuation time! Thankfully my chair was on the way out so I had something to sit in outside. I checked my watch and I’d burned 400 calories and that’s enough, so I got my ride home, back to my crochet.

The 28th of March.

I have been outside!

This morning, I got up a bit earlier than usual, which meant I had time to write up my blog post before we had to go out. I had a chiro appointment at eleven, which was sorely needed after all the crocheting I’ve been doing. These jumpers have rather fucked up my neck – too much sitting here, looking down. Trine had to apply some rather intense pressure to some knots and ooh it was painful.

From there, I went to the gym. I met up with Karen, but there wasn’t much for her to show me today. I just need to do my thing for a few weeks, then come back to her with my progress to talk about any changes.

I worked out for about two hours, getting to do everything in my preferred order which was most pleasing. Even more so was that when Mommy picked me up, she’d been to M&S where they had a pretzel and a cinnamon swirl!

This afternoon, I have returned to the crochet (trying to look up more often) and watched thimgs that recorded last night. I did some screaming at How to Get Away with Murder because of Connor and Olly’s wedding and Scandal crossover! Going to be SO GOOD. I haven’t actually watched Scandal, but I feel very very excited about this.

Tomorrow I am finally going to find out exactly what is going on in my arm. Let’s hope, or I’ll have a breakdown in the middle of Andrew’s clinic.

The 29th of March.

Hm well not really proper answers. I love going to see Andrew because he’s very punctual and I never have to wait when I am called through.

Basically, we don’t know why my arm is fat. The pictures from the MRI show that the veins in my neck and chest are as good as they can be, and any further intervention using stents or whatever won’t really make any difference. So I asked if we can look at my actual arm to see there is a stricture anywhere, because the forearm is where I get pain, where it feels like things are being squeezed, and he’s going to do an ultrasound in it when I go in for my steroid injections. That’s all that’s left, really. I think I will email Anne Dancey and ask her if there is a scan she could do that would determine the exact composition of my arm – what the veins and lymphatic system look like, what is fat, what is fluid, and then what can be done with the results of that. This would be so much easier if I weren’t allergic to contrast.

We picked up Christine at New Street (eventually), and this afternoon I have been crocheting the second sleeve of the jumper and starting Scandal. I’m doing this one longer, so I’m going to have to unravel the first one and do it again. I have enough wool.

The 14th of March.

Right, I’ve got my days and dates back in order.

This morning, I fixed the blog posts so they were correct, and wrote up yesterday. I think on Thursday I got involved with helping Mommy set up her phone and forgot to write anything. Nevermind!

Today was my trip to the gym for my induction. I met with Karen, the ex-weightlifter, and she’s quite extraordinary. Covered in tattoos, including her eyebrows, black braids, red lipstick and pink nails. We talked about my issues, and we did an analysis of my body composition using the BodiTrax system. That was really interesting – my metabolic age is 27, which surprised me, and I’m “under-exercised”, which didn’t. I have very little visceral fat, which is good, and I will benefit from gaining some muscle.

She had come up with a circuit for me, so we went round with me doing a set of 12 on each machine, then I went round again by myself. I’ll see her again next Wednesday, and go back in between. I’m excited to get stronger again.

This afternoon, I’ve been making the second sock, and have just run out of wool. Turns out that if your feet aren’t tiny, you need more than one ball of wool in the main colour. Bah.

The 15th of March.

My arms hurt today. They did not enjoy the bicep curls I did yesterday. My head hurts too, but that’s because I hit it on the edge of the worktop last night when I was getting cookies out of a cupboard.

My day has been rather crochet-based. This morning, while Mommy was out, I watched How to Get Away with Murder and The Blacklist, neither of which were as stressful as usual, and worked on the jumper I have started. I’ve never made one before and I’m coming to realise it is going to take quite a while.

After lunch, I went to watch Annihilation on the big tv, without my crochet. I saw the trailer last year so have been waiting for it for ages, and haven’t had time to sit and watch it since it arrived on Netflix. David Ellison is an asshole – it should’ve gone into cinemas. There’s no need to make Natalie Portman’s character “more likable” or dumb it down. It’s not difficult to understand. Anyway. I liked it – part sci-fi thriller, part beautiful art installation. My favourites were the tree people.
