The 4th of May. X Factor day! Every time I thought about the actual audition part, my blood ran cold so I stopped doing that. Becky and James came with us, just for a day out and some potential fun people-watching (which there was).
We left at half past nine for my 12 o'clock audition because I panic about being late so we arrived at about quarter past eleven. But it's better to be early. Someone was practising very loudly in their car but I hadn't the foggiest idea what they were singing.
I suspect we had some fast-tracking treatment but I was definitely not going to complain. Everyone was very helpful and lovely. One chap took us up to the first round where I met a producer called Sarah whose number I'd been given in case there were any problems and another lady. We had a little chat and I sang for them, and they gave me the magic red ticket that meant I was through to the next round! I was going to get out of my chair, but my heart was beating so fast from nerves, I thought it best not to exert myself any more than necessary.
So then we got taken to another room where I met one of the executive producers called Lee, and that bit was filmed. He said "tell me about yourself" so obviously my mind went utterly blank, but then I got going and eventually I sung my song, and we were done! We had a hug and he said I smelled really nice, which we decided must be my natural scent because I wasn't wearing any perfume. We met an interesting girl in the queue who was super-Scouse (at first I didn't even think she was speaking English), had long blonde dreadlocks and was wearing an awful, bright pink jumpsuit. Then we had the only dull bit, having my passport photocopied and then sitting around, waiting to chat to a researcher. I finally spoke to one called Lily who was delightful and very happy that I was there.
Then we left! It was about quarter past two, so we went in search of coffee, and then home. Now I just have to wait to hear if I get to sing for the actual judges! Scary.
The 5th of May.
Today has been a little bit frustrating for many reasons. There was a plan that Mommy and I would go to the O2 shop after lunch, I would get my phone sorted (I've been unable to text anyone since the sim swap), then we'd pick Christine up from her train and come home when I planned to then work out.
However, all the trains were messed up so Christine was going to arrive an hour late, so that threw everything. We went to the O2 shop and after a long chat with customer service, it seems that this contract that was arranged a week ago just never happened? And the replacement SIM they'd sent me was faulty so I get another one and now it's all fine. It was decided that Christine and Mommy would go shopping when she arrived, so we went to Waterstones to get a book for me to read while they did so (I get bored and annoyed when we shop together). I ended up with The Quarry by Iain Banks and Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs, which is the one I started reading in Starbucks with a latte for "Katheryne". After about an hour, they came back and we came home.
Now my mouth is still a bit dodgy and I'm not sure how to proceed. I'm going to give the mouthwashes a little while longer.
