Documenting not dying since October 2013.

The 4th of October.

I made sure I put the oxygen on last night, so I have not felt like shit all day, which is mightily preferable. I still had a second coffee though, because Mommy reminded me that I was going to be out tonight seeing Acaster at the Town Hall, and that had entirely slipped my mind despite being in my calendar. When she informed me of this, I fired off a quick text to Shaki because she was going to be dropping off kittens after work and I wanted to make sure it was before I went out.

This morning, I had to get Christine to wash my hair before she went home, because Mommy's hand is still bandaged up so she is not very capable at the moment. She did supervise though. Christine's efforts were perfectly satisfactory, but she did manage to get her legs wet somehow. I blow-dried my hair, got dressed, and went back downstairs to paint my nails. A morning of pampering for me.

Daddy took Christine to the station before lunch, and Mommy and I caught up on last night's Celebrity Masterchef while we ate ours. We have a lot of stuff we need to watch that we've recorded while the athletics has been on.

She then went to Grandma's, and I spent my afternoon trying to kill time until kitten o'clock. I watched the latest episode of The Hot Zone, two Lip Sync Battles, then Pointless. No reviews, except that Serena Williams reprising her role in 'Sorry' was iconic.

Shaki came at about half past five with three black and white little kitties. They have all turned out to be girls (when we picked the names, we thought one was a boy and one was unknown), so Bilbo has become Beatrice. She had managed to do a terrible poo in the carrier, then Blanche had sat in it, so we had to clean her with baby wipes before she was allowed to roam around the room. Beatrice is black and white semi-long haired, Bramble is black and white short haired, and Blanche is tabby and white semi-long haired. Unfortunately, so far that's all I know because I had to eat some food, then I had to go! Tomorrow I will pet them all.

The 5th of October.

James was very good last night. It was the first show of his that I've seen that has been based on reality, rather than a surreal fiction. I knew it would work, because I've heard a lot of the stories that he tells in the show, but I'm still so impressed with the way he's able to weave it all together, and keep a little bit of whimsy. I'm also really proud of him for talking about his mental health so openly, really laying himself bare, and managing to make it funny. Then at the end, he said we were the best audience he'd had all tour, and I am inclined to believe him. He was going to be staying to sign and sell books in the foyer, and had he not massively overrun, I would have gone to say hello. However, Daddy had been waiting in the car for twenty five minutes, and I felt like knowingly adding to that would be taking the piss.

Today has been getting to know the kittens day! I had to wait for the rugby to be over, because Daddy was in the back room with them for that. I popped in to say hello after I'd had my coffee, but they were all asleep on the bed so I just did some gentle head stroking.

Once the rugby was over, I could go and meet them properly. I sat on the floor, because then I'm less frightening to them, and we were able to start to make friends. We had fun playing with the question mark, which is a good way to build trust. They all very much enjoyed that, and explored around me. I got to stroke them all, and I found that Bramble accepts it once I've committed to doing it, Blanche is the happiest to sit on me, and Beatrice is really not enamoured with the idea. She'll sit near me - she has been up on the chair behind my head several times, but she doesn't want to sit and be petted.

I left them to eat my lunch, but as soon as we'd finished watching Extra Slice, I was back to the floofs. I could not sit on the floor again, because my bum and back but a lot after this morning. That didn't seem to be a problem though, because shortly after I started a film called In the Shadow of the Moon (make of that what you will) about a man who is obsessed with a time-travelling serial killer, I had both Bramble and Blanche on my lap. Well, technically Bramble was next to me, but it counts. Beatrice got on my lap at one point but it was more to get from one place to another. She is my project; I must teach her to enjoy being petted.

After the bizarre time-travel film, I watched Friday the 13th. It's been on my watchlist for a while and I needed something about 90 minutes long to take me up to six o'clock when it is tablet time. My god it is bad. It is so bad. The special effects are just comical. I know it was the 80's but I almost feel like they shouldn't have even tried. Did people actually find that scary?

I left the kittens all sleeping in different places around the room, so I could go and take my tablets and write this before we have dinner. Grandma has not been great today, so Mommy is not yet back from there and therefore I suspect dinner might he rather hastily thrown together.
