The 26th & 27th; I don't want them to forget what I sound like.
The 26th of July.
I am just up and down. Today I feel okay again. Not on top of the world, but not as miserable as yesterday. Maybe I can blame it on the heat. It was so hot last night, I had to change my pyjama shirt for a vest which I then had to roll into a crop top. I don't know what time I fell asleep.
This morning, I wrote up a blog post, then I got back into knitting the second sleeve. I'm trying not to do too much at once, because looking at the tiny stitches for too long seems to aggravate my eye. Instead of watching Friends all morning, I thought I ought to watch some of the episodes of How To Get Away With Murder that had been building up on the box (there were four). I did two, then Mommy came home from her trip to the QE. She'd been to get the supposed cyst that had formed over where she had the surgery drained, except when the doctor looked at her wrist and the scan, he realised that basically there is only 1ml of fluid in there, and the actual problem is scar tissue which needs surgically excising, and that was what the doctor who saw her in the clinic wanted to do until he consulted with a Fellow who clearly was a moron. Now she has to phone her original surgeon's secretary and try and get back into another clinic so she can have the correct procedure! So frustrating.
After lunch, she had to go back out to Grandma's for a residents and relatives meeting, and I took a break from knitting and started reading The Handmaid's Tale on the iPad instead. I still can't read proper books because the text is too small, but on here I can make it bigger, increase the contrast, put it in night mode if I need to. I ended up reading for about two and a half hours, off and on. I'm nearly halfway through it. Becky came round to say hello and receive her birthday presents, but she didn't come in because Harry was nearly asleep and now was not the time to stop the motion that was sending him to snoozeville.
Speaking of which, I thought I'd managed to get past the Gabapentin sleepiness. Turns out I haven't, and tomorrow I go up to 2400mg. Back to mid-afternoon naps for Kathryn.
The 27th of July.
Thermals are back on. Only the vest, not the long sleeves, but still. And according to the BBC Weather app, it is just going to rain for the next few weeks. Let's hope they are wrong or August is going to suck.
Second consecutive day of a decent mood. Won't get excited yet though. I slept much better than the night before, because it was not disgustingly warm, so that's probably helped me not need any naps today. This morning, I watched Saturday Kitchen and did a very minimal amount of knitting, while texting Sadie. I'm going to help her out with the very tedious work she's doing, cleaning up dirty data so she can use it for her PhD.
I mentioned this to Daddy while we were on our way to the cinema to see The Current War, and he got very excited. Apparently, he used to do loads of this at work, so he wants to jump right on board. He had many ideas and questions, but obviously I didn't have any of the information so he has to wait until Sadie has sent me the data and the instructions, then we can look at it together.
Very much enjoyed the film, and I learned a lot. I also had a kind of depressing thought, because (spoiler alert) Edison's wife dies quite early on, and he keeps listening to recordings he made of her by chance. It made me think I should maybe make more voice and film recordings of myself, because there are loads of photos, but they are just not the same. I don't want them to forget what I sound like.
