The 17th & 18th; Any errant sunshine.
The 17th of August.
Well, another kitten will be off! The other day Nicole told me about a friend of hers who was looking for another cat, who has already adopted from CP so I didn't have worry about having a home visit done, so I texted her about coming to view the kittens and we made a plan for her and her husband to come this morning. They arrived on time and sat on the floor and the bed, meeting all three. I had hoped that they would want Blue, so then the other two could go together, because he isn't on the website (too pretty - would cause hysteria) and it would make a lot more sense that way. Thankfully, he crawled up onto Janine's chest and let Andrew give him many belly rubs, whereas the other two were more interested in checking stuff out and playing, so I didn't really have to persuade them! They'll be back on Monday to collect him, so I'll give him lots of pets tomorrow because I'll miss him and his nose boops. He is the best one of these three.
After lunch, I went to the gym and got through all of Brandon's plan. Not quite in the right order, but close enough. There is a man who I have seen every time I go, who I can only assume is there every single day, wearing the same clothes, which is joggers and a hoodie with the hood up because he is the type of person who wants to sweat loads, and it is irksome if I see him on a machine I want because I know he'll be on it for ages. Plus he is on the highest weights of all the assisted machines so he really ought to move on to the proper ones! Ugh. I just want all the pathetic stuff for myself, basically.
The 18th of August.
I have spent rather a large portion of today with my eyes shut, or in the dark, which does not result in fascinating blog posts.
This morning, I wrote up what I hope actually was an interesting post, then scoured SquareSpace for the ability to add a tag to multiple posts at once, but that tool doesn't exist. I have asked them for several features and they just keep telling me to look out for future updates but they never do the ones I want! Looks like I will have to go through all the posts individually and bore myself to death.
I planned on having a lovely afternoon with the kittens, because Blue is off to his new home tomorrow. They started off being a bit rascally, with Barnaby being a monkey and batting the television screen, but once I got them all held on my lap, they settled down and fell asleep. I watched The Truman Show, a film I have only ever seen the end of, so it's nice to know how it actually all comes together. Nice bit of Laura Linney; I always enjoy her. By the end of the film, the kittens were all really comfortable, but my eyes were just desperate to close. I'd planned on started the new season of Mindhunter, but I physically could not keep my eyes open to look at the screen. I don't think it was from pain, I think I was just tired, so I tried to have a nap, as much as one can when one is trying to stop a kitten from falling off the edge of a chair.
At four o'clock, I needed to have an eye drop from the fridge, and my eyes still seemed to be not happy, so I extracted myself from within the kittens and went to do it, then upstairs to my dark bedroom. I put a podcast on, a hat over my face to cover any errant sunshine that made it through the curtains, and actually I think even briefly fell asleep. I certainly felt a few times like the podcast wasn't making a huge amount of sense. Which takes us up to now. My eyes seemed to have calmed down, enough for me to write this on a darkened iPad, so maybe I'm just going to have to make time regularly to be in the dark if I want my eye to properly get better. If needs must!
