The 20th & 21st; I will have a breakdown.
The 20th of October.
This might be a short one as I've done even less today than usual. I woke up late, because "five more minutes" turned into twenty. Not that it mattered, but I just don't really like sleeping much past nine in case it makes it harder to go to sleep later on. It just meant I got my blog post done slightly later, then I painted my nails.
Lunch consisted of scrambled eggs on a toasted bagel, then my eyes were being an enormous pain so I went upstairs and spent an hour and a half listening to podcasts on my bed/snoozing. Gave my hair a wash, came back downstairs, and since then I've been mainly researching advent calendars because I've got my coffee one, but I just don't think the Biscuiteers one is worth the £58 they are now charging. There's a Moomin one in which you get little figurines, but they're not festive, so that's disappointing. I think it might be a return to chocolate for me!
The 21st of October.
Slightly longer one today because you will at least get some film reviews.
This morning, I got up when my alarm went off, so no lie-in. Generally normal routine, plus the first eight rounds of a crocheted kitten blanket. I had a look on PocketMags to see their previews of the current crochet magazines and got very distracted by an advert for a Christmas amigurumi set that Rico are releasing patterns for and god it makes me wish I could see properly so much. I am back at eye clinic next week and I swear if my pressures have not improved I will have a breakdown. In happier news, my Moomin and sleeping cat necklaces from Tatty Devine arrived in the post! I can wear my happy, dancing Moomin with pride for all to see.
After lunch, I went to see the kittens and watch some films. I had just Blanche and Bramble today, although inevitably just Blanche by the time I left. The first film I watched, which was very good, was called The Party. Kristin Scott Thomas plays a woman throwing a party to celebrate having been made Shadow Minister for Health for the Labour party (never mentioned by name but it's quite obvious), but her husband Timothy Spall has his own announcement to make. And he's not the only one. Her guests all have their own things to contribute, and it's just an excellent piece of work from all involved. I can see it working really well as a stage play too.
Second film was unfortunately, less good. It was called Mandy, sold as Nicolas Cage playing a lumberjack who is on a crazed revenge-driven killing spree after his girlfriend is murdered. However, we do not even get to that until we have had an HOUR of incrediblly slow moving plot, hippy babble, and the girlfriend being abducted by a cult because their leader decides he must have her. They enlist the help of a demonic biker gang (as you do), and after they've got her and she's been drugged with some LSD and venom from a giant black wasp, the leader tries to seduce her and she laughs at him. This makes him angry, so they bind Nicolas Cage with some barbed wire and make him watch while they burn the girlfriend alive. Fun.
Obviously, Nicolas Cage finds this very upsetting. He goes and gets his crossbow from his mate that lives in a caravan, plus some metal arrows. He smelts a lovely axe, then goes and kills the demonic bikers. Then another bit that we could do without, which is a trip to see a drug dealer who tells him how to find the cult. The cult are then killed one by one, waiting for the leader last, and in the end they're all dead except Nicolas Cage who's just covered in blood. I 100% do not recommend this film.
