The 18th & 19th; Stuff has just been difficult.
The 18th of October.
Had a Zopiclone last night because it keeps taking me ages to fall asleep, so today I've been a bit dozy. Still, I'd rather that than lie awake for hours again. Cursed brain.
This morning I did a blog post, ignored the rolling news of absolutely nothing happening with The Deal, and we persuaded the kittens to have the second half of their worming tablet. They weren't thrilled about it, but bits of treat stick changed their minds.
After lunch, I went and watched much tv with the kittens. They were all very sleepy; Beatrice at the end of the bed, and the other two in the bed behind my chair on the cabinet. First I watched Riverdale, in which Archie tried to fix the lives of his old and new pals, Reggie and Mad Dog (now Munroe), Jughead is off to be intellectual, Betty and the FBI are going to go up against The Farm in Riverdale's version of Wako, and Veronica is doing inappropriately sexual performances with her school chums in front of adult members of the press. Normal.
Next, American Horror Story. I won't give you a recap of that because it is basically just people being murdered, but now they've escaped the camp (well, some have), I am curious as to where the rest of the season will go?
I don't know when this became a horror movie review blog, but today it was Hannibal. Definitely much more ick factor than yesterday's film - the wild boars eating people alive was not great, and Hannibal feeding the FBI prick's own brain to him was very unpleasant. Admittedly I was not a fan of the character, but I'd rather he got his comeuppance another way. And still at the end, I find myself calling Hannibal a creepy bastard instead of a diabolical serial killer. From everything I know about the character though, I don't believe he would cut off his own hand, severely limiting his killing, cooking and eating abilities. But hey, what do I know?
During all this, the kittens were doing their undesirable licking behaviour which I tried to discourage, but no amount of being put on the floor would work. It is quite funny when Blanche has had enough, because she will just walk away from the others. That is exactly what happened by the end of the film, but the other two ended up in the bed with her and they all just went to sleep.
The 19th of October.
I definitely did things this morning, but they were very boring. I dressed in cosy clothes again because frankly, I am barely leaving the house right now unless I have to. I promise I will return to the world soon, it just feels like life is kind of on hold at the moment. Since I fell down, stuff has just been difficult. My knees have obviously been a mess, then we got the kittens who've had their issues, Grandma has been generally unwell and needing a lot more care so Mommy's been there most of the time, and when she's been home she's had to have her wrist/hand fixed and try to look after that and do everything else in the house that Daddy and I can't do and I just want to try and keep life as uncomplicated as possible, I suppose.
Back to this morning? The really boring thing I spent most of it doing was going individual blog posts, adding the tag "2019" because SquareSpace doesn't have a tool that allows one to select multiple posts and add a tag (or category). I've brought this up with them on Twitter, and they said they'll suggest it to their Development Team, but it has yet to materialise, so manually is the only way for now. I did the whole of this year (or half, because I only had from July-backwards to do), and that took me up until about one o'clock, when I had my lunch. Mommy had come back from Grandma's to have her lunch and then do some food shopping, but we had to time to finish watching last night's Extra Slice, which we had recorded as Christine phoned while it was on.
Afternoon was kittens and movies. I started off with three, then two, then one. Beatrice left first, then Bramble, and I was left with my baby Blanche. They were (mostly) good today, doing lots of sleeping and only the occasional bout of unpleasantness which I put a stop to. Again, I watched a good film and a less good one. It actually might not have been that bad, but I have previously read the plot on Wikipedia so I think that because I knew the twist, all the set up was wasted on me. The good film was Suburbicon, with Matt Damon and Julianne Moore doing something a bit different. Its premise is that in an all-white Stepford-style community, a black family move in and the residents are so incensed by this that they don't notice a terrible crime that happens next door. There's a home invasion and someone is killed, but that's by no means the end of the story. This is one in which I won't tell you the whole plot because you should definitely watch it.
The second film was called Stephanie. Little girl is left alone in a house seemingly stalked by some kind of malevolent force. She talks to her stuffed turtle Francis, and is able to keep the force at bay by being silent and not thinking any bad thoughts. I don't want to say any more because I want someone to watch it and tell me if they found it surprising or scary because I did not. Am I becoming a person that is fine watching horror movies? I'm not sure, because I watched the trailer for the new Armie Hammer film, Wounds, and I do not think I want to see that no thank you.
