The 6th & 7th; I have done a dog!
The 6th of February.
I have done a dog!
Well, sort of. This morning, I wrote up a blog post, then I chose a dog for my practise patch. I chose the labrador, because it seemed the simplest shape. I took a picture of the graph, printed it out, counted out the squares in each colour, and wrote myself a pattern. Unfortunately, during this process, I made a couple of mistakes, which led to me messing up the dog when I made it this afternoon.
After lunch, I got to work on the dog, and only discovered my error when counting didn't make sense. By then it was too late, so I just carried on and tried my best, having fixed what I could. It took me one episode of The Passage, two of The Walking Dead, and one of Buffy. For a first try at an uneven shape, I'm pretty happy with it. I know where I went wrong, and how to remedy it, although I want to try the Fair Isle method to make the legs of the next one.
Always learning!
The 7th of February.
I was woken up at quarter past eight by a phone call from the QE, saying that people had phoned in sick and so there would not be anybody to fit the equipment on me. Therefore: appointment cancelled! Will reschedule.
I knew Michaela had a couple of appointments today, but they clashed with hospital. Since I wasn't going, I rang Black Sheep to see if they were still available, and they were! Half twelve trim for me.
Having sorted that, I set out the plan for my next dog: a Westoe. I printed out the graph again, and wrote myself a pattern, this time accurately.
Daddy dropped me off at Black Sheep, and Michaela and I caught up on all things baby during the chop. I figured it should get it cut now, then I can have it coloured and cut again just before she goes to have her baby.
Came home, had lunch (including a surprise Belgian bun!) and got working on the Westie. About three and a half hours later, it was complete. It is tempting to just keep practising but I'm getting the hang of it, so maybe I should plunge in to doing one on a jumper!
